On 1 February 2023, Sangira inaugurated the school restaurant in Kagano (Nyamasheke), which is run by the students and a hired cook. The inauguration dinner was attended by all local government officials from Nyamasheke, as well as the mayor, the head of the local military, the head of the local immigration department and other high-ranking residents. The school restaurant is widely supported throughout the community.
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner five days a week. All profits from the restaurants will be reinvested in consumables for the cooking classes and in Sangira’s operations.
Sangira also plans to set up a bakery and takeaway coffee shop at the bus stop in Kagano and needs baking and coffee machines for this. Some of the students have also already trained as baristas.
